Visa exemption or entry permit
Macao’s government page lists visa-exempt nationalities and their stay periods. Travellers not covered can use an approved advance visa, prior authorisation or, where allowed, an Entry Permit on arrival 1,2.
The arrival permit can authorise up to 30 days. The fee is MOP200 for one entry or MOP300 for multiple entry per individual passport 1.
Who must apply in advance
Nationals of Bangladesh, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Vietnam who are not otherwise exempt must obtain a Macao visa in advance through a Chinese embassy or consulate. They cannot rely on the ordinary arrival-permit route 1.
Travel document, ticket and funds
The passport or accepted travel document must remain valid for at least 90 days beyond the intended stay. Visitors normally need a return or onward ticket, subject to the residence and transit exceptions stated by the government 1.
Minimum means are MOP5,000 for up to 7 days, MOP10,000 for more than 7 and up to 14 days, MOP15,000 for more than 14 and up to 21 days, and MOP20,000 for a longer intended stay 1.
Separate from mainland and Hong Kong
Macao, Hong Kong and mainland China each make a separate immigration decision. Permission for one does not replace permission for another 1,34.
