Qatar visitor entry rules

Last checked: 19 October 2026 · Middle East entry rules

Qatar gives visa-free entry or a visa on arrival to many nationalities. Other travellers apply online through the official Hayya platform 1,2. The route depends on your passport, residence and visas held elsewhere. A passport needs at least three months from arrival under the current visitor guidance, and a return or onward ticket is required for on-arrival entry 1,2. Paid arrival visas and Hayya tourist visas commonly cost QAR 100 1.

Choose the rule for your passport

Visit Qatar's official checker returns the route for a selected nationality and asks about GCC residence or valid visas and residence in certain countries. Results can be visa-free entry, visa on arrival, or a Hayya A1, A2 or A3 application 1.

GCC citizens do not need a visa. The Ministry of Interior says citizens of more than 95 countries can use an on-arrival route. Conditions differ by nationality 1,2.

Passport, ticket and hotel conditions

The current Ministry of Interior visitor page requires a passport valid for at least 3 months and a confirmed onward or return ticket for on-arrival entry. Compulsory visitor health insurance can apply 2.

Some nationalities must book accommodation through Discover Qatar before travel. Other routes require a confirmed hotel reservation without the special booking channel. Read the result from the nationality checker in full 1.

Hayya e-visas

Hayya is Qatar's official online tourist-visa platform. The Ministry of Interior lists tourist visas, GCC-resident visas, visas for people accompanying GCC citizens and an electronic travel-authorisation route 2.

Visit Qatar states that the tourist visa is open to nationals of all countries except GCC citizens and gives QAR 100 as the Hayya tourist-visa cost. The application category depends on your passport and supporting status 1.

Visa on arrival

Some nationalities receive a free visa waiver on arrival. Others pay QAR 100. The checker may require a Discover Qatar hotel booking before departure 1.

A visa-on-arrival result is not a promise of admission. Carry the required passport, ticket, accommodation proof and insurance. Check the official result again shortly before departure 1,2.
