Last checked: 19 October 2026 · Middle East entry rules

Oman's entry route depends on nationality and, for some passports, residence or visas held in selected countries. Eligible tourist eVisas include a 10-day option priced at OMR 5 and a 30-day option priced at OMR 20 in the official wizard example 3. A normal passport needs at least six months before entry, and the police recommend applying at least four days ahead 2.

Check whether you need a visa

The Royal Oman Police publishes a visa-free nationality list and an online wizard for visa eligibility. The result depends on nationality, purpose and GCC residence 1,2.

Some nationalities outside the main list can qualify under conditions tied to a valid visa or residence in the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Japan or a Schengen country. Use the live police list for the exact condition 1.

Tourist eVisa choices

The official wizard shows a 10-day 26A tourist visit visa at OMR 5 and a 30-day 26B tourist visit visa at OMR 20 for eligible Group 1 nationals. It displays the visa type, fee, stay and application route after the traveller answers the eligibility questions 3.

Other nationalities and GCC residents can receive different results. The fee and stay returned for one passport do not establish the rule for another passport 2,3.

Passport and timing

Royal Oman Police says a normal passport must have at least 6 months of validity before entry. An unsponsored visa is valid for use for one month before entry 2.

The police recommend submitting a complete application at least 4 days before travel. Processing can vary. Paying does not guarantee that the visa will be issued 2.

How to apply

  • Open the eligibility wizard at evisa.rop.gov.om 1,2.
  • Enter nationality, purpose and GCC residence accurately 2.
  • Select only a visa type returned by the official wizard 3.
  • Upload the requested passport and photograph files 2.
  • Pay on the Royal Oman Police portal and wait for the visa email 2.

Land and joint-visa travel

Travellers entering by road must obtain the required tourist visa through the official site before reaching the land border. The FAQ says legal border posts accept travellers with the correct issued visa 2.

Oman has special joint-visa arrangements linked to Qatar and Dubai for qualifying travellers. Those routes have direction-of-travel and validity conditions. Use the current Royal Oman Police guidance before relying on one 2,3.
