Visa-free short stays
Passport holders in Colombia’s official Lists A, B and C, plus stated special cases, may enter for short activities such as tourism or business that do not generate salary or service payments in Colombia 1.
A traveller outside those lists must obtain the appropriate Visitor visa before travel. The visa category and activity matter, so a tourism exemption does not authorise employment 1.
Entry documents
Migración Colombia requires a valid travel document. Depending on nationality and purpose, the officer may require a visa, an onward or return ticket and evidence of sufficient funds 2.
The visitor should leave using the same travel document recorded on entry. Admission remains a decision of the migration officer 1,2.
Check-Mig
Check-Mig is the migration authority’s free online pre-registration. It is optional, and it can be completed from 72 hours until one hour before entry or departure 3.
The form asks for travel, contact and accommodation information. A confirmation can be shown during control, but it is not a visa or a grant of admission 3.
Airport transit
Colombia requires a direct airport-transit visa from the nationalities listed by the Foreign Ministry. It permits transit in the international area for up to 24 hours and does not authorise changing airports 1.
