Cost

Fees vary by nationality and are shown when you apply 1. The ministry says e-Visa fees are lower than the fees for visas bought on arrival at Turkish airports 1. Visa fees are not refunded if an application is rejected 2.

How and when to apply

The e-Visa system was launched on 17 April 2013. You fill in your identity, passport and travel dates and pay online, and the ministry says it takes about three minutes 1. The e-Visa is only for tourism or commerce. For work or study, apply at a Turkish embassy or consulate 1.

Validity and stay rules

Your e-Visa type sets your stay, for example one month or three months 1. Whatever visa or exemption you use, you cannot stay more than 90 days in any 180-day period 2. Holders of two passports cannot get 90 days on each 2.

Your passport must be valid for at least 60 days beyond your permitted stay. For a 90-day stay that means 150 days of validity on entry 1.

Use the official site

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs directs travellers to www.evisa.gov.tr for e-Visas 1,2. Pay only there. A site that charges more than the fee shown on www.evisa.gov.tr is adding its own charge 1.
