The 2026 eVisa launch
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says Ghana launched the electronic visa portal on 25 May 2026. The same official notice states that holders of African passports would not be required to pay visa fees from that date 1.
Who needs a visa
Ghana Immigration lists ECOWAS citizens as visa-free for all passport types. It lists further nationality and passport-type exemptions, often for 60 or 90 days 2.
A visa waiver does not remove border checks. Ghana Immigration states that a visa is not a guarantee of entry and admission remains subject to conditions at the port 2.
Fees vary by mission
Ghana mission fee schedules are not uniform across countries. For example, the Washington embassy lists US$60 standard single entry and US$100 expedited, with card merchant fees added 3. That schedule applies to that mission, not to every applicant worldwide.
Use the official eVisa portal or the accredited Ghana mission for your place of residence and pay the amount shown there 1,3.
Documents
- Passport meeting the validity rule stated by the portal or mission 3.
- Travel and accommodation details.
- Photograph and the purpose-specific supporting documents.
- Payment through the official portal if a fee applies.
