Entry Rules Explained

Entry fees by country

Last checked: 19 October 2026 · Guides

Entry-related charges have different legal effects. An ETA fee pays for travel authorisation, an eVisa fee pays for a visa decision and an airport charge may rest on a separate law or order. The table states the official amount, authority or legal basis and status checked on 19 October 2026. The Gambia, Sierra Leone, Senegal and DRC security-fee watch items are not shown as active without a current official instrument 9,10,11,12.

How to read the table

Active means the amount appears on a current official application, fee or immigration page. It does not mean every passport holder qualifies for that route 1,23,45,67,8.

Unresolved means an official page mentions a collection but the reviewed source does not identify the legal instrument or another authority disputes responsibility. Such an item is not converted into a confirmed statutory fee 9.

Not confirmed means no current official charging instrument was found for the watch-list claim. It is not evidence that a traveller will never encounter a collection. It means this site will not publish an amount as law without the named source 10,11,12.

Common questions

Are all fees in one currency?

No. Each amount is shown in the currency published by the official authority.

Why is The Gambia charge marked unresolved?

Official pages describe collection, but Immigration says it does not mandate it and the reviewed pages name no legal instrument 9.

Is the DRC US$15 charge a security fee?

No. The identified 2018 instrument describes an international-departure tourism ticket levy 12.

Do fees guarantee entry?

No. Payment or approval does not remove border inspection.
