Visa on arrival

Eligible visitors travelling for stated purposes can request a visa on arrival at a designated airport or land port. It permits one entry and no more than 30 days 1.

Issuance is not automatic. The immigration officer examines the passport, purpose and supporting documents and must be satisfied before granting the visa 1.

Documents for the arrival route

The official guidance requires eligible travellers to carry supporting documents for the visit, an onward or return ticket and evidence of funds. It states a minimum of US$500 in cash or available by credit card for travellers other than those on government duty 1.

The current Foreign Ministry fee schedule gives a US$50 visa on arrival fee. The arrival guidance says payment is taken in cash in accepted foreign currency 1,3.

Advance visa application

The official portal allows an applicant to complete the visa form online. It does not issue a complete eVisa. The applicant prints the form and submits it with the required documents and fee evidence to the nearest Bangladesh visa office or mission 2.

Passport nationality, purpose and desired entries affect the fee and documents. Applicants should use the current mission instructions for their place of residence 2,3.

Stays beyond 30 days

A traveller who needs more than 30 days or multiple entries should apply at a Bangladesh embassy or consulate before departure instead of relying on the arrival facility 1.
