Visa on arrival

A tourist does not need pre-approval for the ordinary tourist visa. The initial visa on arrival is granted for 30 days without a visa fee when the traveller meets the entry conditions 1,2.

The visa is decided at the port of entry. A booking and itinerary do not guarantee admission 1.

Documents and IMUGA

The travel document must have a machine-readable zone and at least one month of validity. Extended passport validity is not accepted. Minors need their own passports 1.

Carry confirmed return or onward tickets and a prepaid booking at a registered hotel, or the official alternative evidence of sufficient means or approved sponsorship 1. The Traveller Declaration must be submitted through IMUGA within 96 hours before the flight 1.

Israeli passports

Maldives Immigration states that the Third Amendment to Immigration Act 1/2007 prohibits entry on Israeli passports from 15 April 2025 3. This later dated rule limits the older general wording that tourist visas are granted to all nationalities.

Health document

A yellow-fever vaccination certificate is required where the official country-risk rule applies. Children under one year are exempt from that certificate rule 1.
