Eligibility and passport

The official portal provides the eVisa only for tourism and only to passport nationalities on its eligibility list. It accepts ordinary passports, not temporary, emergency, special or other passport types 1,2.

The passport must have at least six months’ validity from arrival and at least one blank page. The same passport used in the application must be presented at entry 1.

Validity is not the permitted stay

The approval letter gives a 60-day window in which to enter Laos. It does not give a 60-day visit. The stay authorised by the eVisa is 30 days from the arrival date 1,2.

The eVisa is single entry. Leaving Laos ends that entry permission 2.

Application and entry

The applicant uploads the passport page and photograph, pays online and receives an approval letter by email. The stated processing time is normally three working days after a complete application and payment 2,3.

A printed approval letter is required at immigration. The eVisa can be used only at the ports listed by the official portal, including the named international airports, bridges and rail checkpoints 2,3.

Fee

The official portal calculates the fee by passport nationality and excludes the bank charge from the displayed per-applicant result 4. No single universal fee is stated here.
